Psychotherapy is an extension of my passion for teaching, coaching, and supporting the needs of individuals and couples. My progression into psychotherapy began as a case manager a week after graduating with my undergraduate degree. I then moved on to coaching high-level individuals, teaching middle school, and completing licensure in mental health counseling. Before becoming licensed as a therapist, coaching afforded me the opportunity to see where my strengths could be used in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and loss. The loss of a parent propelled me into training as a grief specialist. As a former college athlete, I’m interested in ways to stay active by training in yoga as well as alternative integrative mental health to support clients inside and out.

For Sidney, therapy is life; everything that happens in life shows up in therapy. My approach to therapy is like my approach to life: Flow with it. I value giving space to grow, using creative approaches, and being challenged from a compassionate perspective to expand into a new comfort zone. These are things I learned through family, moving to different places, sports, coaching, and being coached. Sometimes, it is uncomfortable to be challenged to shift perspective, yet I believe that directly saying what needs to be said leads to breakthroughs that cannot happen when we tiptoe around the elephant in the room. I value engagement, support, reflection, and interdisciplinary collaboration and consultations in support of my practice and clients. I greatly value the relationship developed in the process of therapy and work to protect it through communication and feedback.
